She entered the congregation in 1965 from the parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Crown Heights. She earned a bachelor’s degree in geology /anthropology and then education from Hunter College, followed by master’s degrees in school counseling from St. John’s University, Jamaica, and administration/supervision from Fordham University.
Formerly known as Sister Mary Ellen Rose, she taught at St. Anne, Brentwood, 1967-69; St. Rose of Lima, Parkville, 1969- 76; Holy Family, Fresh Meadows, 1976-79; Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, 1979-85; and St. Joachim, Cedarhurst, 1991-2004.
She was principal of Our Lady of Lourdes, Bushwick, from 1985 to 1991.
Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.
