Field of Dreams at St. A’s (with video)

With the help of Investors Bank, the St. Athanasius, Bensonhurst, sports program opened a brand new youth baseball field earlier this summer at the parish’s athletic complex. The field has mainly served the purpose to host baseball and softball clinics each week.

“This field gave us the access to have all the kids together,” said Pat Lawler, St. Athanasius’ commissioner of baseball. “We do basic skills from throwing, catching, running bases and hitting. We also work on basic team skills and building their sportsmanship.”

The goal of any youth baseball program is to get as many kids playing as possible, and this new field has accomplished that goal.
