Bishop’s Dinner for Scouting

The annual Bishop’s Dinner for Scouting was held Sept. 25 at El Caribe Country Club, Mill Basin. Two hundred thirty people attended. Auxiliary Bishop Paul Sanchez represented Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio and also received the Good Scout Award from the Catholic Committee on Scouting. Paul Stanton, chairman of the Catholic Committee, was the emcee. Former chairman, Brian Long, assisted with presentation of the Good Scout Awards as did Fathers Thomas Vassalotti and Joseph Zwosta, co-chaplains for scouting in the diocese. The retreat for Catholic Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be held Oct. 3-5 at Alpine Scout Camp in Alpine, N.J. Auxiliary Bishop Raymond Chappetto will celebrate Mass on the final day. In November, the Scouting movement in Brooklyn and Queens will again host the visit of the Peace Light from the Holy Land. The 2015 Catholic Convocation and presentation of religious awards will be held Saturday, April 25, at St. Athanasius Church, Bensonhurst.
