CSW2013: St. Joan of Arc School, Jackson Heights

Fostering a Community of Learners

St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, has been providing a strong academic program in a disciplined learning environment in Jackson Heights since 1922.
In the spirit of our youthful patron, St. Joan of Arc, our mission is to educate exceptionally, serve endlessly and dare dreams of the impossible in our Catholic school community so we manifest God in today’s world.
Accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, St. Joan of Arc follows the New York state curriculum and has incorporated the Common Core State Standards. We offer full-day pre-k-3, pre-k-4 and kindergarten and serve students through grade eight. In addition to the standard curriculum, we offer Spanish, gym, computer, art, music, library and ESL classes. For eighth graders, we offer an Algebra I N.Y.S. Regents class after-school.
We have Title I services in reading and math; a part-time social worker and guidance counselor; and Resource Room/Learning Center for IEP students.
Many classrooms feature SMART Boards, and students enjoy using Mathletics, a web-based math resource.
After-school activities include band, basketball, baseball, soccer, track, chess and art, which are available through the parish youth council. The school also offers after-school care until 7 p.m.
Our teachers routinely upgrade their skills through continuing education. Many are trained in differential learning and are part of Yale University’s Emotional Literacy program.
St. Joan of Arc Catholic School celebrates diversity within its classes by openly accepting all students as equal members of their class and building a true community of learners.
See what makes our community so special at our Open House, Jan. 28 – Feb. 1, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Registration takes place at the same times.
