Keep your hands off what is not yours. If it does not belong to you, you have no right to take or harm it.

This commandment not only dictates you shall not steal your neighbor’s property but that you shall not steal someone’s faith. As a Catholic, people can ridicule and mock me for my belief, but they will never steal my religion and they can never change my mind.

“You shall not steal” seems like a simple statement, but it can go so far. It is not just stealing someone’s physical property. Even by making fun of someone, you are stealing their pride. It seems like such a simple rule to follow, but you need to be careful of your actions.

To me, the seventh commandment is one of the most important commandments. It tells us to be just and fair to others and that it is wrong to take something that isn’t ours. Honestly, I wish more people would respect this rule because it is definitely a rule that should be followed without question.

This commandment is important to me because you can steal many times and say “I’m sorry” but not actually mean it. To me, you have to learn why you are doing something to help stop yourself from doing it.

The seventh commandment tells us that it is not right and just to steal. There are many ways to steal, and we should avoid doing them.

I believe people should look at the seventh commandment closely. It highlights that anything not ours is not for us, whether it’s a piece of candy or a praise not meant for us.

We should not covet other people’s wealth. We have food and water in overabundance, and as such, we should advocate for equality among individuals and nations.

Stealing can take many forms: saying too little or too much. Stealing can be a thought, a look or lack thereof. As Catholics, we must always be aware of stealing and make conscious efforts not to partake.
