St. Joseph’s Players, Coaches Gain Post-Season Honors

The men’s and women’s basketball teams from St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, Clinton Hill, took home plenty of postseason honors after successful campaigns.

Senior forward David Louison (St. Edmund Prep H.S., Sheepshead Bay) was named the inaugural Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (HVIAC) Player of the Year. He was named to the All-Conference Team, along with junior forward Michael Megafu (Nazareth, East Flatbush) and junior guard Matt O’Neill (St. Edmund Prep). Louison was also selected to the 2014-2015 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Men’s Basketball First Team, the first St. Joe’s Brooklyn campus student-athlete to receive the honor. Men’s head coach Joseph Cocozello was awarded Coach of the Year.

On the women’s side, freshman guard Destiny Marino (Christ the King, Middle Village) earned the HVIAC Co-Rookie of the Year as well as All-Conference Team honors. Senior forwards Taylor Raccuglia and Samantha Retas (both Bishop Kearney, Bensonhurst) also were named All-Conference. The team’s head coach, Frank Carbone, was awarded Co-Coach of the Year.
