Sister Margaret Most, C.S.J., a Sister of St. Joseph, Brentwood, for 74 years, died in Maria Regina Residence, Brentwood, Jan. 20.

She entered the congregation in 1941 from St. Michael, Sunset Park.

After earning her bachelor’s degree in English from Manhattan College, she received a master’s in speech education from Columbia University Teachers College, Manhattan, and Brooklyn College.

Formerly known as Sister Margaret Frederick, her ministries included: Our Lady of Good Counsel, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1943-44; St. Joseph, Prospect Heights, 1944-52; Mary’s Nativity, Flushing, 1952-53; Nativity, Bedford-Stuyvesant, 1953- 54; St. Agnes Seminary, Marine Park, 1954-57; Bishop McDonnell H.S. Annex, Flushing, 1957-59; Bishop McDonnell H.S., Crown Heights, 1959-62; Academy of St. Joseph, Brentwood, 1962-65; Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, 1965-79; and St. Rose of Lima, Parkville, 1975-2003.

In 2003, she retired to Sacred Heart, Hempstead. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brentwood.

  1. Sister Margaret ill never ever forget you. Thanks for teaching for school but also how to respect others and grow to be a real man . St. Rose of Lima did the right thing by making you our Librarian teacher. GOD BLESS
