Salute to Sister Roberta

Alumni, students, faculty, parishioners and friends filled the pews of Our Lady of the Snows Church in North Floral Park to pay tribute to Sister Roberta Oberle, C.S.J., on June 22.
A Mass of thanksgiving was held to thank God for Sister Roberta, who retired last month after 28 years of service as school principal. She has been principal for more than half of the school’s 55-year history. Father Kevin McBrien, pastor, was the main celebrant of the Mass, after which Sister Roberta had the honor of presenting the inaugural Sister Roberta Oberle C.S.J. Award for steadfast spirit, service and dedication to the school to graduating eighth-grader Nicholas De La Cruz.
A reception followed in the parish hall with the sharing of fond memories and some tokens of appreciation for Sister Roberta.
Joseph Venticinque, former principal of St. Pancras School, Glendale, has been named to succeed Sister Roberta.
