Hoops Classic Benefits ‘Team Eddie Boy’

The St. Thomas Aquinas, Flatlands, Sports Association presents the first annual “Giving Thanks” Basketball Classic to be held Nov. 29-30 in the parish’s Msgr. King Hall.

The 12U basketball teams from St. Thomas; St. Bernard, Mill Basin; Good Shepherd, Marine Park; and St. Ephrem, Dyker Heights, will participate.

Saturday, Nov. 29 is a day full of basketball starting at 10 a.m. and ending in the afternoon. On Sunday, Nov. 30, games start at 1:30 p.m. followed by the best Benefit Party you will ever be a part of.

The party starts at 5 p.m. with music, food, free-throw and three-point contests, a great basketball show put on by Jack “Black Jack” Ryan, raffles, auctions and much more.

The admission fee for the basketball games is $5 for adults and children under 16 are free. Admission to the benefit party is $10 for adults and $5 for children.

Don’t miss out on these two days of fun while supporting a great child and a great family! All proceeds will benefit “Team Eddie Boy,” a fund set up to help the McCarthy family offset some of the costs of their son’s cancer treatment. Eddie McCarthy is a 14-year-old freshman at Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge, who was diagnosed with pediatric brain cancer this summer.
