On the morning after Sandy struck, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio visited with Msgr. James Spengler, pastor of St. Rose of Lima, Rockaway Beach.

More than 100 homes in Breezy Point were destroyed by fires caused by Sandy.
Residents have relied on their faith and civic pride to rebuild.
In the weeks following the storm, the gymnasium at St. Francis de Sales School in Belle Harbor was turned into a relief center.
