Buckley’s-Kennedy’s Run Set for May 19

Even after six months, Breezy Point is still an area recovering from the devastating effects of Hurricane Sandy.

But on May 19, the Breezy community will gather not recall the loss from the storm but instead to remember the support it received from the surrounding communities and beyond.

This Sunday marks the 33rd annual Buckley’s-Kennedy’s 5K Charity Run, which raises funds each year for the HeartShare Human Services of New York.

This year, HeartShare will share the profits from the race with the Breezy Point Community.

Hundreds of runners are expected to participate in this year’s race, including members of some local Catholic Youth Organization track teams. The race begins at 10 a.m.

A $10 donation can be made by texting 5KRUN to 27722.

Stay tuned to the NET-TV show Currents for a sports segment on the event.
