Before the St. John’s University men’s basketball team took on Marquette University, Jan. 21 at Madison Square Garden, the Johnnies honored one their own at center court.

Former Red Storm baseball standout Joe Panik played an integral role as the second baseman on the 2014 World Series champion San Francisco Giants.

Panik brought the trophy to the Garden and is pictured, center, with, from left, Giants’ CEO Larry Baer, St. John’s athletic director Chris Monasch, Rawlings representative Jon Mauchan and St. John’s head baseball coach Ed Blankmeyer.
